Splashball Youth Clinic (Fall)

Sport Development Programs - USA Water Polo

Our “Splashball” Youth Water Polo Program is our entry point in to the sport of water polo. This program is a terrific way for kids to enhance their water safety skills while being introduced to the basics of water polo. Our program is a six-week clinic designed for kids ages 8-14. All levels of experience and ability are welcome (must be able to swim 50 yards comfortably). Participants will learn the basic rules of the game, along with introductory movements and skills that will help them become more confident in the water. Participants will also have the opportunity for inter-squad scrimmages to get a feel for what it’s like to play in a water polo game.

What if I already have experience playing water polo?
We encourage our competitive youth athletes to participate in our fall Splashball program to get ready for the upcoming competitive season, which begins in late October/early November. Our competitive youth program is for athletes who wish to compete in regional and national-level tournaments. We split the comp program into three seasons: Winter (Oct-Jan/Feb), Spring (Feb-April), and Summer (May-July). Athletes are required to train 6-10 hours per week (depending on the time of year) and must travel to compete in tournaments. Athletes who participate in our competitive youth program will have a significant advantage in the water when they eventually try out for their high school team.

What to Bring

All you’ll need is a swim suit (brief or jammer for boys and one-piece for girls), latex cap (for long hair), a towel, and a great attitude! Goggles will be allowed during warm-up only. We’ll supply the water polo balls, goals, and game caps.
