Competitive Youth Polo (Summer)

Our summer competitive water polo program runs from May 28 through July 23/28. This program is designed to teach all athletes, intermediate to advanced, the technical and tactical water polo skills needed to compete at the highest level of play. Athletes will learn the individual fundamentals of mobility, passing, shooting, and defending. Athletes will also learn the tactical water polo strategies of front-court offense and defense, transition/counter-attack, 6v5 and 5v6. Goalkeepers will learn fundamental movements in the goal and how to defend specific tactical situations.

All participants must be registered as a “Gold” member with USA Water Polo for the 2019 calendar year and affiliated with California Republic SC (#26152). Jr. Olympics in Orange County, CA

Each year we culminate our summer season by competing in Jr. Olympics, a four-day national tournament hosted by USA Water Polo. The tournament is comprised of the top 70+ teams in each age group (14U, 12U) from all across the country. Teams that wish to participate in Jr. Olympics must first qualify at their zone’s qualifying tournament. Typically, the top 10-12 teams in each age group will qualify for Jr. Olympics. The age groups and divisions include: 14U boys, 14U girls, 12U boys, 12U girls, 12U co-ed, 10U co-ed. We need a minimum of 10 athletes per team in order to participate. If you’re interested in participating in Jr. Olympics, please be sure to let us know on the registration form below.

Our zone’s qualifying tournament is June 21-23 for boys (Clovis) and June 28-30 for girls & coed (Modesto/Oakdale). Please note, Jr. Olympics is not included in the summer program fee and requires a separate participation fee in order to play (see “Program Cost & Payment” below for more info).

Program Cost & Payment

Our program fee is reflective of the operational costs associated with running a competitive water polo program (pool rental, coaches’ wages, equipment, admin fees, etc.).  The summer water polo program fee is $450/athlete (payment arrangements must be made by 2nd week of program).  This fee covers all practices, all tournaments (except JO’s), and a program t-shirt.  If you have concerns about the fee or wish to set-up a payment plan, please contact us at info@calrepublicsc.com.  We want to make sure every athlete has an opportunity to play!

Please note, this program fee does not include the Jr. Olympic tournament in Orange County.  All those who wish to participate in Jr. Olympics (July 25-28) will also need to pay a participation fee of $215/athlete (due July 9).  This will help cover the tournament entry fee and coaches’ travel expenses.  Athletes/families will be responsible for their own travel & lodging accommodations at Jr. Olympics.

Payments can be made online or via check at practice. To pay online, click “Add to Cart” for one or both items, then go to click on “Shopping Cart” at the top of the page to complete payment.
